Chambers Law Firm Gets Results: Extensive Pre-Trial Investigation and Aggressive Cross-Examination at Trial Led to Favorable Outcomes

There are few things more stressful in life than being charged with a crime, particularly if the charges are overblown or completely false. Having an aggressive, seasoned Los Angeles criminal defense attorney can make all of the difference in these cases. A knowledgable attorney can shepherd you through the California criminal process, and give you peace of mind that you are getting the best possible defense. More importantly, a highly skilled Los Angeles criminal defense attorney can zealously defend you through each step, and potentially have the charges dismissed or reduced.

The Chambers Law Firm is helmed by Dan E. Chambers, an attorney with more than 25 years of experience. He has taken more than 120 cases to jury verdict, and served as a Deputy District Attorney for Los Angeles County for 7 years. His broad knowledge in the field of criminal defense law is complimented by the work of his team, which includes Valerie Romero, a retired Long Beach police officer and licensed private investigator, and Xinia Chambers, an office manager who is also a native Spanish speaker. Together, the Chambers Law Firm team has helped clients achieve favorable outcomes in cases involving any number of criminal charges brought in Los Angeles and the surrounding areas.

In March, our firm helped secure fantastic results for three clients in three different areas of California law. The first involved an allegation of elder or dependent abuse. These cases can be very difficult to defend, as sympathies often lie with the alleged victim, who is seen as helpless. Our client was a psychiatric technician at a state mental hospital who was charged with physically abusing a patient. We thoroughly investigated the case prior to trial, and engaged in exhaustive pretrial discovery to gather information from the prosecutor. This included filing multiple motions to gather additional evidence. We ultimately took the case to trial, where we aggressively cross-examined the prosecution’s witnesses. The jury found our client not guilty on all charges.

A second client was charged with multiple counts of animal cruelty for allegedly abusing a horse. As with elder abuse cases, animal cruelty cases can be particularly difficult to defend, as most people have very strong feelings about protecting animals. This was especially true in this case, as it was set for trial in an area with many horse and farm animal owners. We were able to negotiate an attractive plea deal to resolve the case, but our client wanted to take the case to trial. Our team carefully analyzed the police reports as well as the photographs of the alleged abuse, and utilized them to conduct a devastating cross-examination of the key animal control officers. After a challenging two week trial, the jury returned a verdict of not guilty on all charges.

A third client was charged with 18 felony counts of fraud, identity theft and fraud; combined, these charges were punishable by more than 14 years of jail time. We took this case over from another law firm. Our team started by investigating the signatures on the various checks, and conducting a conditional examination of the alleged victim. At trial, we were able to successfully cross examine and impeach the alleged victim, showing that she had very little credibility — and that she had actually lied about critical parts of her testimony. As a result of this work, we were able to secure a very favorable plea deal for our client, who plead guilty to one misdemeanor offense and served no jail time. All felony charges were dropped in this case.

While the Chambers Law Firm cannot guarantee a result and past results do not predict future outcomes, these cases illustrate how our hard work, dedication and skill can lead to favorable results. We aggressively advocate for each and every one of our clients, working tirelessly to secure the best possible outcome.
