Prosecutors are now alleging that ex-wife Erika Sandoval killed former Exeter police officer, Daniel Green at his home last February. A judge ruled yesterday that there is now enough evidence to charge Sandoval with first-degree murder.
Green’s body was found after he failed to show up at work at the police department. It appears that Sandoval may have entered her former husband’s home, taken his gun, hid in the closet, and then when he arrived, shot him multiple times. If she did wait for Green to murder him, it’s possible that this case could result in a death penalty conviction.
She has confessed to the crime, though it’s possible it will be ruled a false confession in court. Anything is possible since she has an excellent defense attorney.

Detectives are reporting that she may have been concerned about Green taking Sandoval’s child away. Their son Aiden was 2 and a half as of last February, and as a result of this investigation, he has been placed with Green’s twin brother, who is now petitioning the court for legal guardianship.
Sandoval’s arraignment has been scheduled for August 25th.
