6,112 federal prisoners are being released this weekend, from October 30–November 2, in accord with new drug crimes sentencing guidelines established by the U.S. Sentencing Commission last year. These new guidelines reduced drug crime prisoners’ sentences from an average of 10.5 years to a new average of 8.5 years, according to a recent Fox News article.
A historic weekend
